Equinox Resort Spa, VT (and Backroad Discovery Tours)

10 Nov

Wonderful experience.  I stayed in a townhome which was easily accessible to everything.  It was huge with a modern, sleek design. It has balcony overlooking the mountains and fully equip kitchen.

The service was outstanding, making restaurant reservations for us and shuttling to and from.  The town itself is full of outlets, so we did plenty of shopping.  Our visit happen to fall upon restaurant week, so we took full advantage of that as well.

I didn’t use the actual spa services, but I definitely got use out of the gym, indoor pool, and jacuzzi located outside.  I regret not taking a in-the-pool fitness class which was no extra charge.  The resort gives you the fluffiest robes to lounge in!

The main building has a restaurant (which I didn’t try because it was pricey) and two bars.  They plan activities but my favorite was drinking by the bonfire.

They make the BEST apple cider doughnuts you will ever taste.

And if you are staying in the area you HAVE to check out Backroad Discovery Tours. I loved the tour guide; she was more like a friend.  We touched upon everything we hoped for, like local histories as well as syrup tasting and cheddar cheese! We even got to play with animals.  I definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the area. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes!

Great escape from the city congestion, and a wonderful long week to take in the fall.  Or have a wedding! Keep an eye out- this place is always popping up on TravelZoo.

POPSugar November 2013 + PROMO

9 Nov

Popsugar Must Have Box is a lifestyle subscription box filled with full size products sent to you monthly for $39.95.

Honestly, I do a lot of subscription box stalking, and Popsugar seems to be a favorite.  I never really felt the same awe others did but since this was my last chance to subscribe before the $5 price increase I gave it a chance.

I won’t physically be able to open it for awhile but my PopSugar Must Have November 2013 box is safely tucked away in my room awaiting my arrival.  Here is what this month is all about:

~Barefruit Crunch Sea Salt Caramel Apple Chips ($1) This is unique.  I dig it.
~Lands End Single Canvas Wine Tote ($19.50) Pretty sure this is useless to me, especially if it’s monogrammed and I can’t regift.
~The Soap and Paper Factory Shea Butter Soap ($8)  Ah, another expensive bar of soap.  I use body wash but this is useful for travel.
~Maison de Monaco Strawberry and Blackcurrant Cream Preserves ($6)  I’m excited to try this! I’ve been craving a cream cheese and jelly english muffin.
~Illume Candle (6.2 oz) ($15.75)  Pretty adorable and very festive.  I love candles but I just never buy them for myself.
~Absolute A! Nail Polish Remover in Spring Fresh (32 pads) ($1.99)  Useful for travel.  Chipped nails have been driving me nuts.
~Canvaspop Gift Card ($30)  Aw snap, I just ordered something from Picaboo with Groupon.  But I’m sure it’ll come in handy.
~Michael Stars Folk Art Wrap ($42) Eh, FabFitFun’s was cuter.

This box had an approximate value of $124 and I assume variations will exist. Well worth it if you are into these little goodies but I think I’m sticking to makeup and skin care.

If you do decide to try PopSugar, don’t forget to use PROMO Refer5 to save $5 off your next box.

GlossyBox October 2013 “The Byrdie Box”

2 Nov

This is my first Glossybox.  The price tag isn’t too bad at $22 and I like that skin products are incorporated.  I could always use moisturizers and primers.   This month’s box was a special collaboration with Brydie.

I have to say it had my favorite packaging so far!  It was so classy and the box was durable and reusable, I legit feel guilty throwing it out… so I didn’t 😉

The first thing I noticed, besides this adorable ribbon, was the SMELL.  It was wonderful.

Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream  Sample Size Value $12.60)

Supposedly a little of this goes a long way.  I’m still young so I think my mom would appreciate this more.  She loves the idea of products, but never really goes after them.  Simple woman. Into her pile this goes.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes Statement Mascara ($23)

This stuff is awesome!  The gold around it is actually the tube!!  The brush is harsher than usual but I love the movie star lashes I get. I have short lashes and I’m happy with both the volume and length I get from this.  This is top 3 mascaras  ever for me.

Sesha Renu Exfoliating Gel Sample Value: $16.80 / 20ml / .68oz

I was slightly disappointed by this because I wanted the rejuvenating anti-wrinkle mask since I’m going to be alone in a hotel all week I figured it would be fun to do some pampering.  I guess Glossybox decided a 24 year old didn’t need an anti-wrinkle mask and would prefer an exfoliate.  But hey, can’t complain. I do love my Apricot scrub so we’ll see how this lines up.  For the price- I hope I don’t fall in love lol.

Balance Me Shine on Tinted Lip Salve ($19.37) in Soft Beige

Doesn’t look like a $20 product but it comes all the way from Great Britain so who knows how they do things there. It’s also a custom color made just for these boxes.  But it’s going into my gift pile because I’m not a big gloss user..I much prefer lipstick!

Bvlgari Eau Parfumee Au The Blanc Soap ($9.96)

I found the culprit of the amazing smell. I don’t normally use bar soap but again, I will be traveling the next few weeks and this could come in handy.  I am much more excited about a bar of soap than I ever knew possible- you NEED to smell this. It’s better than a spa and makes me feel like life is beautiful….!

If you are interested in subscribing- don’t forget to use the code “BODY” for a free BODYOGRAPHY Every Finish Powder

I’m going to be honest with you- even with the $81 value I wasn’t too excited about this box.  But I can’t put my finger on why. I got an amazing mascara, and the face products I was counting on.  I’m going to give this subscription a few months… I don’t know how long term I plan on it being but I am definitely excited to see what they come up with next.

Which is apparently inspired by flowing hair, matte skin, and sultry smokey eye.

Klutch Box Best of Box October 2013 Review

17 Oct

This is my second, and last, Klutchbox.

In case you don’t know, Klutchbox is  a subscription box service which sends a curated box of 9-12 exceptional health and wellness products direct to your door every month.  They come in 3 subscription types- Womens, Mens, and Moms, and f you wanna try it out you get whats called “best of box.”

Don’t get me wrong, this box is awesome, I guess I’m just not as into trying out health products as I originally thought but this box was my first subscription and it will always hold a special place in my heart!

Anyway- here is what I got:

Nature’s Bakery $1.60? Yum!  Blueberry and fig- intriguing. All natural, kosher, and cholesterol free. My sister immediately stole this because it’s one of the few bars that doesn’t use a million weight watcher points and after a taste test she inquired about what a box of these would cost. They also come in a ton of yummy flavors. Did I actually just discover something I would buy on my own in one of my subscription boxes?!?! They are sold on Amazon and the prices vary.

CrunchMaster Multi-Grain Crackers: $1 each These were in my last Klutchbox as well.  They are pretty good- I bring them to work with hummus. They also come in a variety of delicious sounding flavors.

  • Saturated Fat Free
  • Certified Gluten Free
  • Cholesterol Free
  • Ton of whole grain

The bag size was pretty small, but I think it’s meant to be “sample size.” The site sells them at 4.7 ounces.  I doubt I’ll buy again for the price, but I didn’t mind sampling them twice.

Annie Chun’s Seaweed snacks: .25 I grew up in a very Korean area so I’ve had a ton of experience with dried seaweed snacks, although I could definitely see this being a very different snack to someone who is not use to it.  It’s a great alternative to snacking on chips, or even roasted Kale if you want to switch things up.  Salty is definitely my weakness, not sweet, so I’m excited to see if Annie Chunn can fulfill the cravings.. If ever there is a next time, I’d like to try out one of her more unique flavors.  The standard size for each pack is .35 oz.

Celcius Calorie reducing energy drink $1.50 I’m not much of a believer in the whole idea of intaking negative calories- I feel like it’s the easy way out.  However I do love me my energy drinks.  I might make a diet cocktail although it’s described as a ppre-exercise supplement drink powered by the unique MetaPlus formula containing good-for-you ingredients, such as Green Tea with EGCG, Ginger, Calcium, Chromium, B Vitamins and Vitamin C, all of which work together to raise metabolism, resulting in a sustained calorie burn while keeping you energized.  It has a TON of caffeine, more than Redbull, and no weird aftertaste and the best part is it’s reasonably priced!  I probably will not be trying another flavor only because I don’t want to get hooked.

100% pure organic nourishing body creamsample size Awesome product. It’s thick, has an awesome long-lasting scent (but not too heavy) and moisturizes really well.

  • 100% natural, 100% vegan, gluten free
  • immediately hydrates, softens, and feeds skin with nutrients
  • concentrated with antioxidants, vitamins, skin softening fruit oils and moisturizing cocoa and avocado butters

Happy Squeeze- $1.75 each These came in my last box too, but different flavors.  I’m happy to see them again. SERVE COLD. I am not the biggest fruit lover so I won’t be buying them on my own, but if I were anything but a water drinker I would be interested.

After checking out the site, I see they have yogurt.  What a healthy and organic alternative to Go-gurt.  They’ve caught my interest!

Shower-Pill body wipe$1.50 I get so many “body wipes” in my boxes and they go straight into my travel bag.  I don’t know hy- I probably shower more when traveling than I do normally.  I’m really not interested in them but they could be useful in an emergency but this product does seem on the pricy end, don’t you think? Must be high-end!

  • Proven to kill germs1 yet safe on sensitive skin and infused with moisturizing Aloe Vera and Vitamin E
  • Quick dry solution, does not require rinsing or extra dry time
  • Light fresh scent is not overpowering or “perfume-like”

Natural Calm $9.25 OK, so I have no interest. I probably should since I’m pretty aware of my calcium intake, but I didn’t even know magnesium existed until I googled this product. “Calcium excites nerves, while magnesium calms them down. Calcium makes muscles contract. Magnesium is necessary for muscles to relax. Calcium is needed for blood clotting, but magnesium keeps the blood flowing freely.”  All in all, I could always use some anti-axiety help and this sample is very generously sized.

Juice Beauty moisturizer15 ml $7 A different product, but I did see this brand in my last Klutchbox.  I use an acne cream (which dry your skin) so I never have enough moisturizer.  And I obviously love that this is oil-free- works great on blemish prone skin!  Klutch, you nailed me on this one. This is a great introduction to the world of organic skin products but wayy out of my budget.  Although I tossed it into my travel bag- I look forward to using it in a few weeks in Cancun 😀

YogaVibes $60 I received this in my last Klutchbox as well but I’m really not that into yoga- especially online yoga.  I’m a little too slow for that.  I gave away this voucher as a bonus gift with a lifestyle product I sold on eBay.  Maybe that lucky lady had better use of it than I do.

This was a pretty good haul!  Klutch does a wonderful job of introducing me to products just as it promises to do.  My only complaint with this box was that it lacked a description card and coupons to anything but Happy Squeeze- I can’t remember my last box but I’m pretty sure I got all that.  Must be a fluke in the batch.

The total value came to $84, and even without the voucher it was well over the subscription price of $18 a month (less with longer commitment.) Do you have experience or are you interested in Kutchbox?  Let’s talk about it!

Pumpkin Errything (and Tobi PROMO)

15 Oct

Up until last Fall, I ASSUMED I hated the taste of pumpkin.  I blame those ugly goopey looking pies!  But, after pumpkin picking and enough years of carving, I decided to puree one. I baked some doughnuts and you know?!?! Pumpkin really doesn’t have that strong of a flavor… so I’ve been LOVING it this year… thank you Dunkin Donuts!!

Here’s a quick and easy recipe I feel like sharing 🙂 It was a HUGE hit…even for my boyfriend who is still anti-pumpkin in his head.

Pumpkin Spice Cream Cheese Breakfast Rolls!!!!!!!!!!!

2 packages/cans Pillsbury Crescent Rolls

4 0z cream cheese, softened

1/4 Cup brown sugar

1/4 Cup canned pumkin (Libby’s)

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon fresh ground nutmeg

1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Unroll crescent rolls to form 4 rectangles placed side by side.  Pinch seams together to form one long rectangle.  Place cream cheese, brown sugar, pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg into a mixer; beat until well combined.  Spread mixture over crescents leaving a 1/2 inch border around edges.  Starting at long end, roll up then cut into 1 inch pieces.  Place around 2 9 inch cake pans that have been sprayed with cooking spray.  I left the centers open so the rolls form a circle.

2.  Bake for 28-30 minutes or until rolls are golden brown.  Remove and let cool for 10 minutes.  Frost warm rolls with cream cheese frosting recipe below.

4 oz softened cream cheese

1/2 Cup powdered sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1 Tablespoon canned pumpkin

1.  Mix all ingredients into a large bowl until smooth.  Spread over warm rolls.

I may add more pumpkin than the original recipe calls for… it’s all trial and error!  Keep posted, I have some ideas for the rest of the pumpkin that I’m hoping ends up good enough to share 🙂

I’s been awhile since I gave you a fashion update- check out‘s 2 day sale- everything is 50% from original price with promo code FLIRTYFALL50.  I’m quite torn myself- I found a gorgeous dress but need to stop spending money! Especially because today I was the victim of credit card fraud 😦 I’m hoping TD reimburses me, but the evidence is highly in my favor so I’m sure they will!
